I managed to do a little sewing on the weekend during nap times. This is a small table mat for Steve's grandma who collects kokeshi dolls. I made it like a mini quilt with batting in between.
Another project I've been meaning to do for ages is make some cushion covers for the living room. I came across this great tutorial for cushions and piping on Sew, Mama, Sew which will come in handy when I get around to that.

Sophie has been getting lots of wear out of this cute sweater knitted by Tingles. I realised in the nick of time that it fits now so therefore needs to be worn as much as possible for the few weeks that it still does. This kid is growing fast!.
It goes well with the booties from Em.
I recieved a card from a friend today with a picture of a child layered in knitwear with the caption "Life would be so much nicer if only my mother would stop knitting". I beg to differ! Ha - if only Sophie just had her mum to contend with!
I wonder who he's talking to?! This kitty found a nice comfy perch in our street on a freezing afternoon.
My folks flew back home last Wednesday after 12 weeks holiday here in the UK. We had a wonderful time and it was great to share Sophie's first few weeks with her grandparents. I'm now having to rediscover the kitchen and figure out what is in the fridge and where Mum has reorganised my tupperware ;) I was really emotional for a couple of days after they left but am getting back into the swing of things again now.
I haven't really managed to do any crafting yet although I have pulled out my chunky buttony cardi to hopefully finish before the end of winter. I've mostly been doing some new year organisation - all the nesting that I procrastinated on before Sophie arrived. As of today I have a very neat linen cupboard. Exciting stuff! (but v. satisfying)

With cheers from my Back Tack present hanging up on the shelves. Laurel my buddy took much better pics of the lovely gifts she sent me than I have managed to. The goodies I sent her are in a flickr set here with all three pressies representing Gold, Frankinsense and Myrrh below.
We celebrated by having a new year eve BBQ with family and friends during the day. Steve and the boys stood outside with beers in hand in the traditional manner but the girls chose not to brave the -2 degree weather and stayed inside in the warmth. Sophie ensured that we were still up to see the new year in even though it was a great wish that we wouldn't be still up at 12. Or 1.30 am for that matter.
New Years not so much resolutions but "to dos" include
- writing about my birth story
- finishing a half knitted cardi (Chunky Buttony) before the end of winter
- finishing a couple of pairs of socks
- sorting out my filing
Nothing too ambitious this year I think.
