Your bump looks great! Good luck!

I found that fascinating! I have a friend in the UK who is 37 weeks pregnant with her 4th child (the 1st to be born in the UK, others born in NZ and Australia). I'm amazed at the differences in the systems, the funniest being that she was advised to bring in disposable knickers during her labour! That cracked me up!

Good luck! I hope it is all a positive experience for you :) Can't wait to see pics of a healthy babe at the end of it all.

That is an awesome bump! Can't wait to hear about the big day and see a pic of your little girl. Loved your post about maternity care in England - so fascinating! I might do one about Japan. BTW, I have no idea when my knickers came off - dealing with contractions was the ONLY thing on my mind. Also my sister went public in Australia and had her two babes at the Birth Centre at the RBH - she raved about it!

I'm really interested to hear about other people's experiences in London as (you may recall) I'm also pregnant (30 weeks).
When I went to my local GP to tell her I was pregnant (and get confirmation I thought), I was told they didn't do tests, that the ones from Boots were better, and that it cost them too much money anyway. Okay fine. So then why did my doctor get me to pee in to a cup and do a test? And then why did she not tell me what the test was for, let alone what the result was? At that point I decided that I wasn't going to go back there for any maternity care if I could avoid it. And luckily I haven't had to.
I looked around at a couple of hospitals, asked some friends in the area where they went and ended up with the Whittington and I have to say – they've been great. I have had monthly appointments with the midwives (so far) and I've had both a 12 and a 20 week scan. The baby was moving too much for them to see everything at the latter scan, so they did a repeat the following day – no appointment necessary. And at one point during a midwife appointment, even though we could both see my belly move from the baby kicking, the midwife couldn't find a heartbeat. So she sent me for another scan – just to reassure me.
At every stage, they tell me what they're doing and why. I went to see my obstetric consultant on another issue and he was useless – he panicked me about a blood disorder according to my notes without checking if the notes were even mine (they weren't).
So here's my humble opinion – doctor-led pregnancy care = bad. Midwife-led pregnancy care = very good.

I'm really glad that you're experience has improved – and I'll keep fingers crossed that it stays that way! Best of luck with the bean!
